Bread is not a simple food. To form bread, one must harvest the wheat, separate the grain from the husk, crush the grain into flour, mix it with water and then bake it. Bread is not considered a side dish and is considered main for a healthy diet. Bread is positive for your heart and the bran in the bread helps you to obliterate from your body all the dead cells and estrogen (excess estrogen leads to numerous health problems). Yeast acts by the process of fermentation, generating tiny bubbles of carbon dioxide gas in the mixture, or dough, distending or raising it and making it light and porous. Chemical leavening agents, notably baking powder, are sometimes used in the preparation of so-called quick breads. Yeast needs liquid to help it to do well and form the bi-products that help the bread rise. Most bread recipes use milk or water but an amusing alternative is beer. Yeast converts sugars in the flour to alcohol and gases, the effect of which is to ‘rise’ the bread. The importance of yeast in the standard of bread must not be underestimated.
