As a telemarketer, I am fully aware of how much people hate me. You would not believe how many angry responses I get when I call people up around dinnertime. I know that what I am doing a somewhat inconsiderate, but the American public has to understand something – if telemarketing didn’t work, we wouldn’t do it. We use telemarketing lists to target the most likely clients, but ultimately it all comes down to making a lot of cold calls. If you have a thick skin and a charming demeanor, you can sell ice to an Eskimo with or without telemarketing call lists. If not, you’ll probably get out of the business pretty quickly. Either way, I don’t feel too bad about what I do most of the time. After all, if you really hate me, you only have to put up with me for long enough to hang up the phone.

It is pretty tough being a telemarketer. The first couple months that I was doing it, I was depressed all the time. I knew that the people who were shouting at me would never meet me, and would probably like me if they did meet me, but it did not make things any better. Taking all that abuse takes its toll on you until you learn to distance yourself from it. One of the toughest things about telemarketing is that you don’t have control over who you’re calling. The company is responsible for the telemarketing lists. You don’t make the decisions. If they have bad telemarketing lists, you might get shouted at all evening. If they have good ones, you might make a killing even if you are new to the business. Either way, it is usually out of your hands.

The invention of the telemarketing no call list under popular pressure from the American public has only made things more difficult. You see, often you are responsible for your own no-call list. Rather than incorporating it with the regular telemarketing list, they leave them as two separate items for some reason. That means that you have to double check your telemarketing lists as you are making your phone calls. Not only does this take longer, but it is a poor system for catching stray calls before they go out. Basically, if you are at it for long enough you are bound to call someone on the telemarketing no call lists.

Cell phones, cell phones, and more cell phones. This is probably the single most important device to many people. I must admit that my laptop takes precedence over the mobile phone. I can’t live without this device. The cell phone on the other hand, I hardly use the darn thing. This is why I’m shocked when I glance around at all the people chatting away on their Razr phones and such. First of all, how did they ever cope prior to the cell phone age, and second of all, what are they talking about. I swear it’s about nothing important. I think a lot of people just call acquaintances on their cell phones because they have nothing else to do. Does this sound familiar at all? Well, since I’ve yet to conform to today’s cellular trend, I may have to go with the conference call pricing simply to save some cash.

You’ve heard of “pay as you go” or conference call pricing, right? Basically these are great for those of us who hardly ever use or need a cell phone. It’s ideal if you wish to avoid the monthly bill. With “pay as you go” phones, you simply acquire the mobile phone and pay only if you use it. So if a month passes and you never used the phone, you pay nothing. Sound cool? There are no routine service charges, ect. You can purchase the mobile phone with a particular amount of minutes on it. Once the minutes are gone, you no longer have service. Of course you can always pay to add more minutes to the phone at any time. My mother now has one of these and loves it. She never uses a cell phone, but wants one in her car, just in case it breaks down. This way she will have the option to call for assistance. Makes complete sense to me.

Cell phones are handy little innovations; there’s no disputing that. On the other hand, they cause brain cancer. Ha, just a little joke! No but seriously, some folks believe they do. Regardless, the world will continue to use them. They make life that much more convenient. We thrive off of products such as this. Anyway, if you want to squash that monthly cell phone bill and keep it to a minimum, I suggest conference call pricing phones, or “pay as you go” phones.
