When you send someone a unique gift basket, a trinket, or even greeting card when it is unexpected, and not just for their birthday, it brings so much more positive feelings with it than just sending what everyone else sends. It can really do a lot to brighten up their day.

I have been a big fan of unique gift baskets for years, and I love to surprise my friends by sending them unique gift baskets. For example i send my girlfriend a nice scarf in her favorite colour, because she were away on a work related trip last week, and i wanted her to know that i were thinking about her in the cold.

I haven’t been able to find out where the much-maligned fruit cake originates, but I have discovered that there are many different recipes. Most of the time, people are familiar with the bland, generic one. These cakes are dense, dry, and easy to preserve. In this day and age where we can have fresh food whenever we want, we are a little bit spoiled. Few of us see the usefulness of having such a durable holiday fruit cake, but my guess is that, in earlier times, they were pretty handy. In the winter when everything was dead and the ground was cold, having something sweet and doughy that you could snack on all year would be a rare luxury. So much for the uselessness of the fruit cake!

To me, it is amazing the lengths that people go to to please someone by giving them an extravagant birthday present.  Many people often find rare, expensive, and difficult to obtain gift items for the birthday of a loved one.  They will wrap them up in elaborate and beautiful wrapping paper and either give them or hide them for the birthday boy or birthday girl to find.  Often, these presents will come with a personalized note on the store bought birthday card.  Yet with all this effort that people go through, it is amazing how rare of an art making birthday cards is.

It is easy to make birthday cards, after all, and it shows someone that you really care.  You can make your own birthday cards out of practically any material.  Most of the people I know who are into making birthday cards like to use nice paper.  Often they use recycled paper with a texture to it.  However, you can get very unconventional when making birthday cards.  In fact, almost anything goes.  From birthday ecards, to elaborately handmade and hand-lettered birthday invitations, there are practically millions of choices out there.  The whole point in making a birthday card is to add a personalized touch that will let the recipient know how much you care about them.

Whenever I start off making birthday cards, I like to take a long moment to pause and think about who I’m making them for.  I don’t only contemplate their personality when making birthday cards, but their aesthetic tastes as well.  I think about how they decorate their room, how they dress, and what art they admire.  Most of all, I think of what kind of person they are, and what our relationship means to me.  The more I know about someone, the easier making birthday cards for them is!

Of course, the most important ingredient when making a birthday card is the personalized note.  That is the part that always stops me.  Making birthday cards that you know will look attractive to someone is a piece of cake.  Figuring out what to say on the birthday card, however, can be much more difficult.  The birthday message should be worthy of the birthday card, but once you’ve spent a long time making the perfect card, this can be difficult.  Fortunately, however, it can often be enough just to let them know that you care.  This is the most important thing, after all!

It is sad when your 60th birthday party comes around. It is even sadder when you have to send out the 60th birthday invitations yourself. It is saddest of all when you have no one to blame. I know that my niece was supposed to send out my 60th birthday party invitations, but when her fiancé’s entire family came into town unexpectedly, there was nothing she could do. She was so busy entertaining them that she didn’t even have time to pick out 60th birthday invitation cards. She certainly didn’t have time to plan the party. All of my friends were supposed to be throwing this huge gala occasion for me, and yet I was forced to do it myself. This made me very unhappy.

My best friend Ruthie was supposed to come over and help, but her hip was bothering her again. Good old Ruthie. You can always tell that there is work to be done when her hip starts bothering her. As for my husband, he was out of town at the time. He would be coming back just in time for the birthday party itself. He had no time to help me with the 60th birthday invitations or any of the other preparations. I was almost entirely on my own.

Once I had sent out the 60th birthday invitations, however, I had some time to relax. Picking out 60th birthday invitations was stressful to me because picking out birthday party invitations is always stressful to me. Once they were mailed, however, there were several weeks to get the party together. I am not one of those last-minute people. I like to take my time, and taking my time means starting well in advance of the event. As soon as I sent out the 60th birthday invitations, I went to work. I ordered cake, bought decorations, and came up with a list of foods for the party. That way, when it was time to actually hold the birthday party, everything would be in order. The 60th birthday invitations promised an outdoor event, so I came up with a plan for what to do if it was raining. I found a place that would rent outdoor tents with very little notice. All in all, things went beautifully!
