Finger Heart Rate Monitor

One of the least expensive and useful mode of heart rate monitor is the finger heart rate monitor. This type of monitor can be found integrated into many modern gym machines like the elliptical, stair climber and of course the treadmill. These handy little monitors read your heart rate when you place one or two fingers on the pad. This is similar to the same technology used with ECGs and chest strap monitors because the heart gives out an electrical signal that can be detected through the skin.
But are these monitors as accurate as the ones that go on your chest? Some experts would say no. It seems the consensus is that chest strap heart monitors are simply better, however there are some very appealing finger monitors on the market today. You may prefer a monitor that goes on your finger as opposed to one that has to be strapped to your bare chest. And, you’ll most likely pay less as well because finger monitors are on average less expensive than the chest strap kind.
